First things first. In order to install a new cpu hsf, I must remove the old one, yes? Well it's not that old, but it's stock, and (sing it with me) "Stock is not an option!" *shakes fist in the air*. Although I will say right quick that the stock hsf that came with my X2 4400+ does a damn good job of cooling. Here's the victim....

Let's continue removing the stock unit. We're not going to stop at just removing the cooler, we're going to keep going and remove the entire bracket surrounding the socket area also. Zalman includes a new one, no worries.

Once that is done, we can go ahead and "test fit" the new, much broader, Zalman 7000B-Cu LED Cooler. A test fit for me was to simply, and carefully, place the new cooler on the CPU ( no goop!$#) and inspect all the way around it for clearance issues ( assuming it didn't already hit something on the way down ).

If there is a clearance issue, feel free to bust out the dremel, kick and cuss like a schoolgirl, or pony up and grab yourself an Asus A8N-SLI Premium. Hooah.
