Closer Look Cont`d: Here's the pics that make all the difference between the two. You can see the stock Sunbeam NUUO comes exceptionally well sleeved all in black. It also has 2 extra beefy, and EMI shielded cables for PCI-E and Molex.
The Performance-Pcs NUUO is completely re-sleeved from top to bottom with UV orange sleeving with bright blue connections. In a side-by-side test of "feel", the stock sleeving feels better, but in the looks category there is little substitute for a custom colored sleeving job to maybe your cases colors or whatever you wish. The PSU:
The main body, or power supply itself, is the same
on both units. It's a 550w version of the new NUUO power supply from SunbeamTech.
As I mentioned earlier, it's their first entry into the power supply market, but
it's a fantastic entry.
You've no doubt read the other reviews on this power
supply around the web: everybody is cheering this unit. I will be no different
as I really like believe this is a quality product, as an extremely reasonable
price.
The version(s) I received was the "black"model. Though it is more of a gunmetal black. It is NOT simply painted black as most would be. It looks more of an anodized black where you have the brushed look to portions of it, smooth to others....but never a plain black paint. This is one good looking, and classy, power supply. Small touches like a black fan grill and carbon fiber look sunbeam sticker on the fan simply add to the overall good looks. You'll notice both an 120mm intake fan (above cpu area) and an 80mm exhaust fan ( rear of case). This is refreshing considering the sudden rash of one fan power supplies on the market today. I myself prefer a rear exhaust fan on a power supply versus just a stamped mesh design. There is no LED lighting on this power supply, it's built for power and function, not lights. However adding an LED fan to this power supply would not be difficult at all. The Insides: I unscrewed the power supply cover to give you a glimpse of the insides of the NUUO. I'm not electrician, or electrical engineer, and I don't pretend to play one on TV, or go google a page and copy it here for you...What you see is what you get ;) It's tidy, well constructed, and looks fairly easy to modify. Enjoy!
