Introduction There's no doubt that aluminium seems to the material of choice nowadays for the PC enthusiasts when it comes to buying a case. Eversince Coolermaster and Lian Li blew the market open with their infamous line of cases, it has been flooded by cases from various other manufacturers. And Skyhawk is one of them. Based in Taiwan (doh! like they'll be based anywhere else!), Skyhawk has been making computer chassis since 1992 mainly for the OEM and server markets. Using that expertise, they've also came up with their own designs of aluminium cases for the consumer market and we're taking a look at one of them today, the MSR-462 Mid Tower Case. Let's take a look at the specs direct from Skyhawk's Website. Specifications
Here you see the front and rear shots of the case itself. Nothing spectacular really and it looks a bit like the ones on Lian Lis. The case also came with a 300W power supply, something some of the other aluminium cases do not have. The case comes with 4 x 5.25" drive bays and 2 x 3.5" external bays, something standard nowadays. Power, Reset and LEDs are situated on the right side of the case, next to the 3.5" bays. The case also comes with an abundance of thumbscrews. It's like a standard now with most aluminium cases. A rear shot of the case reveals the single 80mm cooling vent. The motherboard-side panel also has these vents to facilitate with cooling, although I would've prefer proper blowholes as most of you would. Swing-out plastic feet are also found underneath the case. One bad thing you'll notice with this particular case is the lack of a cooling vent up front. Skyhawk do have another model that has cooling vents and that's the MSR-4610 as pictured below. It looks exactly like the Lian Li PC60, with a few exceptions. Makes you wonder doesn't it? :O) It has the exact same basic interiors as the MSR-4620. The aluminium material (exterior and interior) has been hard-anodized to prevent corrosion and also fingerprint marks. Ok, let's move on and take a look at the interiors.
