Introduction: There is always something to be said for the Bling of LED lighting and colored casing of power supplies, but there is even more to be said for stability, while still retaining a very sleek appearance. Today I bring you the Silverstone's ST50EF 500w power supply, the newest member of Silverstone's Element series. About the company: Founded in the summer of 2003, SilverStone Technology is now a proven leader in the field of aluminum enclosure design and manufacturing. Our expertise in creating functional works of art from ordinary electronics and computer components is widely recognized. Numerous designs and ideas for improving computer enclosures were first created by our talented team of engineers, who are regarded by many as leaders in their respective fields. Today, SilverStone Technology continues to garner attention and awards that reflect our original vision of creating the most advanced and beautiful products available on the market. Features:
Flat black colored casing(lead-free). Specifications:
A Closer Look:
The ST50EF comes packaged in the typical power supply boxing, which sports a black and blue faded design loaded with all the details about the power supply. Once I opened the box I immediately noticed that the power supply was wrapped in a plastic bag instead of Styrofoam, giving it a bit less support for the long journey to its final destination. Inside we find the flat back casing colored power supply itself and the case mounting screws. I was a bit surprised that this power supply didn't come with a power cable, but I'm not 100% sure whether that was accidental or on purpose. Either way, I was fortunate enough to have one lying around, allowing me to take full advantage of Silverstone's beautiful creation. Cabling:
This bad boy comes fully equipped with an arsenal of cables that come in your favorite flavors. The 20pin and 4pin sidekick connectors, along with the PCI-Express connectors come neatly sleeved in heavy duty nylon mesh to protect them from being damaged. The 4 SATA cables, 6 IDE cables, and 2 floppy cables come naked for your viewing pleasure.
