Introduction:

    It all started back in 1975 when Seasonic was incorporated. I bet those power supplies were the size of Volkswagens. Being in the power supply business for over 30 years makes them very reliable and knowledgeable. With new standards being applied to the manufacturing of electrical equipment requiring the equipment to run within a certain efficiency, Seasonic complied with these new standards and came out with a new line of power supplies with 80% efficiency. What that means is 80% of the AC power coming into the power supply is used while the other 20% is lost. So a device that is consuming 300 watts of DC power needs 375 watts of AC power. That 300W is 80%, and the other 20% is heat generated by the conversion of AC to DC. Less heat in the computer case means less fans and a quieter system.  More info on this will be given in the review.
