Introduction: Most know Saitek not for their keyboards but for their market leadership of joysticks, game pads, and driving wheels. Saitek manufactured one of the first pre-fabbed back-lit keyboards, the Gamers Keyboard; the Eclipse is the second generation of this product. The Eclipse is a standard 104-key layout sporting a zero-slope design with a removable adjustable wrist rest. The unit is compatible with 98, SE, ME, 2000 and XP and utilizes LED key illumination and backlighting with three levels of lighting: high, low, and off. The keyboard also features audio controls which allow you to turn volume up and down in addition to muting audio output.
Clip from Saitek Website: Our
award-winning keyboard design just got better! The
Eclipse PC keyboard features patented TrueVu key
illumination for use in any light, from day to total
darkness.
First Looks: Out of the box the Eclipse looks clean and elegant and is quite solidly constructed. The surprisingly stable, detachable wrist-rest clips and unclips from the unit and has three main "positions". When sliding the rest to and away from the unit, there are definite positions that "click" into place. The keyboard can be used flat or with the feet extended along with the optional rest in any one of three positions.
