Problems:

Rubber grip
Side blue lights
Thump.. Thump
Pulsing razer logo
it glows
Glowing Scroll wheel

Well, that brings me my only issue with the mouse. If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you might be able to guess what it is! BLUE LIGHTS! ARGH… Don’t really notice them when you are using the mouse, because your hand is covering them. But since the mouse doesn’t turn off after time, the lights are always on.

Between the pulsing blue symbol on the top, and the transparent rubber grip, it’s the brightest device I have connected to my computer at the moment. Light sleepers be warned, you might have to unplug it at night, or cover it with a piece of paper.

Conclusion:

I have to give any product with such annoying lighting, a -1 penalty to their score. I really do. But you know what, I contacted Razer about the lighting when I got the mouse. They replied quickly, stating that they are looking into adding controls over the lights in future versions of the mouse. And with the fact that the Copperhead has updatable firmware, the update might be as simple as a driver and firmware update.

For their quick response, and the fact they acknowledge it is a problem AND they are going to do something about it, I’m going to give them a bonus point. Razer really has listened to what gamers want, and they are continuing that trend.

Considering my reaction to the mouse (as well as the reaction of a few friends), and after using it for a few weeks constantly without finding a flaw in it’s operation. I feel justified in giving this mouse a "Recommended Gear" badge.

Pros:

  • Perfect Shape, size, weight

  • Drivers only needed to change settings

  • Really noticeable in-game performance advantage

  • Extremely customizable

Cons:

  • Extra Crazy Blue Lighting

A big thanks to Razer for sending this mouse in for review! Please send any comments or corrections to: Millsy, or click the forum link above to discuss this review.
