Introduction: I know some of you are probably still gazing at the picture above thinking to yourself "What the heck is that? That can't possibly work can it?!" Well to answer your question real quick, "yes, it works and it'll work on your PC too!". What you're looking at above is possibly the world's smallest USB 2.0 Flash Drive. The convenience of portable, easy to use flash drives today is driving the market into a frenzy to continue to design new ways to transfer information from one computer to another. I think other than having two computers linked via a wireless network, there really isn't an easier way than using a USB Flash drive. And with that said, there isn't a smaller, or thinner, USB 2.0 Flash Drive on the market today than the OCZ Mini-Kart. It's truly something to behold. OCZ was kind enough to send me the 1GB model of their new Ultra-Slim Mini-Kart USB 2.0 Flash Drive. Let's get onto the specs of this unit.
Specifications:
Description from OCZ: OCZ Technology makes data storage and
transferring easier and more portable than ever with the OCZ Mini-Kart USB Flash
Drive. The ultra thin and lightweight Mini-Kart holds up to 2GBs of data in an
ultra-compact unit that you have to see to believe.
A Closer Look: The retail package is of typical size for DDR/DDR2 memory (which is obviously oversized for this task) but that's to hold the Mini-Kart very securely in place. It also aids against losing the product before you even get to enjoy it! :) Once inside the packaging, there is another enclosure to get thru. It's the OCZ included carry case (or protective storage case) for the Mini-Kart. It's very similar to those small clear cases you'd get when you purchase a compact flash card or SD memory card for your digital camera. OCZ also included a tiny key ring & cord for your traveling convenience. The Mini-Kart flash is just a tiny bit thicker than a quarter and will easily slip into a credit card slot in your wallet or slip easily into a purse or attach to a key ring. This thing is so small, carrying it around with you won't be a problem. The real problem will be NOT losing it! The front (or top) of the Mini-Kart has the OCZ logo and the "Mini-Kart" tag along with the '1GB" inscription noting this is the 1GB version. It looks great to me. The rear of the unit is just black plastic. No need for fancy lettering back here. << Back to VH FrontPage | Testing & Conclusion >>
