Interior: After removing the side panel, I was shocked to see another set of panels. It's two, two cases in one! These inner panels (2 of them) are basically sound dampening panels. The lower larger panel is held in place with five thumbscrews. Behind this panel is the main access to the motherboard and HDD rack. The smaller upper panel gives access to the 5.25" drive bays. And just when I thought the surprises were over, I found I was wrong. Attached to the rear 120mm fan is ducting to direct air over the CPU HS. This duct is adjustable so taller heat sinks may be used.
Heat sinks, you say? The Lian Li PC-S80B comes with FIVE HDD sinks. W()()T! These five HDD heat sinks slide in and out on drive rails that are preinstalled onto the HDD rack. Just in front of the HDD rack are two 120mm intake fans that blow over the heat sinks. This is sure to keep the those HDD's nice and cool.
On the back of the case is a removable bracket. This bracket attaches to the PSU, and then the PSU slides in from the back and is secured to the case. The PSU doesn't sit at the very top of the case; there is a space of about 3 inches above it. With the PSU being lower in a tall case, this eliminates the need for an extension cable, but creates a void space for heat to be trapped. Lian Li took care of that potential problem and mounted an 80mm exhaust fan at the top to blow over the PSU and out the back of the case through a mesh opening.
