More Outside: OK, enough with all this about the door. What is behind the darn thing, you ask. Well, hardly anything. LOL! There are 4 external 5.25" drive bays, and one of the bays is set up with a spring loaded drive bay door. Just pop in a CD/DVD drive and the ejected tray will push open the spring loaded bay cover.
Both side panels on the Lian Li PC-S80B are identical. Toward the back of each panel, there is an area about 2"x11" that is cut out and has a honeycomb type mesh to allow air flow into the case. The front and top edges of the side panels have been given a knurled effect to help with gripping the panels when they are being removed. The top front of the Lian Li PC-S80B is the where the I/O ports are located: two USB, one Firewire and Audio out/MIC ports.
The rear of the case is also unique - it comes with a muffler. The muffler, or sound dampener, is an aluminum structure that covers the area for the PSU's and 120mm exhaust fan. This cover extends about 3.5" from the back of the case, and the inside is covered in closed cell foam to aid in noise reduction. The cover is designed to allow the exhausted air from the case to be blown towards the bottom of the case. At the top on the rear are 2 thumbscrews, one on each side. These thumbscrews are used to secure the latch for the side panels. To remove the panels, remove the thumbscrew and pull the latch backwards to disengage the lock from the panel. WHEW! For a case that is very unornamented on the outside, it sure does have quite a lot of features to it.
