Conclusion:
It’s easy to look at the
ECS KN1 SLI EXTREME in a good light.
My favorite Canadian
supplier lists the
KN1 SLI EXTREME for $55 (Canadian of course, which is about 99 cents USD
:P ) cheaper than a
A8N-SLI Premium. The ease of over clocking, and the fact that
even with stock cooling, my cpu can be over clocked by 300 mhz, with just a simple front side bus increase.
From my experience with this board, the only issues are with the physical makeup
of it. While the close proximity of the ram slots to the video cards are only a minor annoyance,
the PCI slot LED’s are by far my biggest complaint.
The fact that there is no control
over the LED’s and that they really are so bright (oh and flash if there isn’t a card
in a slot!) is the sole reason I’m going to dock ECS a full point. I’m sure some
people like them, but I’m definitely not the only one who sleeps in the same room
as my computer, and I’m also not the only person I know who's made a comment about them.
Fast, reliable easy to setup/over clock and cheaper than similar featured boards. Someone
at ECS knew what they where doing. I can’t think of a better single socket 939 board
I’ve looked at.
