Introduction

After months of secretly working on this project, the time has finally come to unveil it to you guys! Right off the bat here I'd like to thank the entire team over at CDI for their hard work and dedication in making this project a reality. This will be one of the easiest , and most exciting write-ups I've done in a long time. Since the case used in the project is so well known , you don't need much explanation of it so I'll be letting most of the pictures do the talking.....and they'll be shouting! :o)

Let me give you guys a quick refresher on the company responsible for this DiceBox creation. I know most of you guys have heard of , and even bought from, CDI. They've been on our sponsor list since February, 2001. That was when I also debuted another world premiere case with the CDI Inwin Alaska Cool-Case. The Inwin Alaska was a huge hit with the VH readers out there, and I'm hoping this will further showcase their talents to you guys. Since It's been over a year since CDI and myselfs last meeting, alot of things have changed in the case modding scene and the market itself. The Inwin was one of the most popular cases a year ago, but since then, there's been alot of new cases on the market. Only one case stood out from the crowd though in terms of quality, performance, popularity, and price. That case is from Chieftec server case. Also sold under the Chenming, Antec, and Enermax names, this case has been red hot since it as introduced, and just continues to gain admirers. The case used for the DiceBox was graciously provided by Directron and sent directly to CDI for the customization. When the case arrived at CDI, the DiceBox was to be stripped down and taken apart, blowholes strategically added, painted inside and out, VH logos placed all around, have a full mural airbrushed on one complete side, include a wrap around lower border airbrush, and personalize it with the obligatory"Diceman" to make it mine ;o) What you're about to see is truly one of a kind , and as you'll see by the serial number airbrushed on the side, it's numbered 01/02. Hmm, does that mean it's number one of a two case set?....You'll just have to wait and see!! Muwhahahahah ...It's been a team effort putting this together and to me shows the willingness to try new things from all involved.

Like I said, there was a mass of communication back and forth between CDI and myself putting this together and out of literally a hundred emails, not once did one go unanswered! I was really impressed with that. They were right on top of it, including the inevitable last second changes, they were right there for me. Ok, without further ado......I present to you the "DiceBox".....w00t!

Front

Back

You can see right from the start, this isn't an ordinary paint job. It's what CDI specializes in, completely customizing paintjobs for their customers. With their airbrush artists and proven case-painting service, your imagination is the limit. For the Dicebox, It just had to be blue/black......go figure! :o) While communicating with CDI about this Dicebox, neither of us wanted a plain paintjob. CDI really wanted to showcase their airbrush talents and logo`n skills, and I wanted the pimpiest VH case ever imagined. Everytime I had an idea, but wasn't sure if they could do it, I'd get a "great idea! we can do that!" from CDI..... heh. They're was no stumping them :o)

So , I went with a full body "VH" blue base coat with a jet black chassis color. After that was decided (2 seconds), it was time to decide on what to put on the sides of the Dicebox (2 months..lol).

Right Side Logo

Left Side "5 Souls" Mural

On the right side (mb plate side), I wanted a HUGE VH LOGO with catch phrase included! Got it! The mural on the left side, or the handle side, of the case was a bit harder to decide on. I've had this gothic pic of "5 souls" sitting on my hdd forever and I thought with a little tweak it would be just right for the theme I wanted to get across. That was another "Can you do this?" e-mail to CDI where I got a "Great idea! We can do that!" e-mail reply.....heh. Of course the pic I had, the middle soul figure wasn't holding a pair of dice.....hehe. So whatcha think so far? Does this case just scream VH or what? I think so! It appears to be screaming DICEMAN too.....heh. That's just so I can spot it in a crowd ;o)

Lower Mural & VH grills!

Original Pic

Upper Mural & more VH grills!

Here's some more shots of the "Souls" mural side. You can see how well the finished product from CDI matches the Original concept picture I sent them. By the way, I found this "souls" picture on Google ages ago. I thought it rocked :o) The quality of the artwork done by CDI was very good. They fully clearcoated the case in a thick gloss for me and it feels very durable besides being UberShiney!...lol

Right Side Logo

Front Door Open

Front Corner Shot

This side of the case went thru a few revisions to come to what you see here but I like it! I don't think it gets anymore VH looking than that. Just the look I was going for ;o) You see, my whole point here is that you can make your box just the way you want it. With the kinda work that CDI can do, Just think of it and it CAN BE DONE!
