Introduction A custom case isn't finished until all the details have been taken care of. One of the last tasks that needs to be accomplished is wire management. Even if your case doesn't have a window in it, keeping the inside of the case free from clutter is important for cooling. For a case that is windowed, it is even more important to try your best to give the case a finished look. Neatly bound and sleeved wiring harnesses show others that you care about the details, and that can make your case a winner in a field of also-rans. Today I'll be looking at the CaseArts Molex Sleeving Kit provided by the good folks at Directron. Overview The CaseArts Molex Sleeving Kit contains most all the pieces you will need to clean up the various wire bundles inside the case. This kit is designed to address power supply leads specifically, but even if you have a pre-sleeved power supply, there are many more wires inside the case that could use a bit of order. USB headers, front panel wires and CD-ROM wires also need attention if your case is going to be a winner. Today we'll look at how to sleeve the most common power supply leads. From this, you can get an idea of how to do the rest of the mess. The CaseArts kit comes with a great assortment of colored Molex connectors, the sleeving itself and a pin-extraction tool. With this assortment, you should be able to make your harness look professional. The kit includes connectors for the ATX power cable (20-pin) and an Auxiliary power connector (square 4-pin), but the kit does not come with a tool that will allow you to remove the pins for these connectors. This is a shame, because on my particular case I would have liked to install the red ATX socket.
