Introduction: American Media Systems, Inc. (AMS) offers a wide variety of computer related items, ranging from server enclosures to PSU's to raid storage devices. AMS also offers HDD enclosures, and that's what I have up for review: the AMS Venus GOGO 2.5" OTG Enclosure. The OTG means "On The Go". This enclosure comes with a rechargeable battery and can be used while in the field to pull data from USB devices. OK, enough talking... onto the review.

A Closer Look:
The Venus GOGO is not your standard 2.5" HDD enclosure. This model features a rechargeable internal battery which makes this unit even more portable than most others. The Venus GOGO comes in two colors: Black and Silver. The main body of the enclosure is aluminum, so it should provide sufficient cooling for the HDD. On the back side of the enclosure are 3 ports. One is a power jack that receives power from the USB port on a computer to charge the internal battery. The other two are USB data ports. The mini USB-B port is for the connection from the Venus GOGO to the computer. The second USB port is used for the OTG feature of the Venus GOGO. Also a carrying case is included and on the back end of the case is an opening for the USB port, so there is no need to remove the Venus GOGO from the case to use the OTG function.
AMS has kept the front side of the Venus GOGO rather simple, with just a button, a switch, and an assortment of LED indicator lights. The switch is the main power switch for the enclosure and is used to power the HDD On/Off for use out in the field. The backup button is described on the unit itself as the OTG button. One push of this button, and the Venus GOGO will pull the data from a USB device connected to the USB port. The LED's on the front of the enclosure consist of a blue LED (power,) a green LED (charging,) a yellow LED (battery low,) another green LED (HDD access,) and a red LED (HDD full/HDD error.) See, I told you it had an assortment of LED's.
