abit AN-M2HD layout: Here's a couple of pictures I grabbed from newegg.com since, quite honestly, it shows off the layout better than I could: ![]()
A Closer Look: The abit AN-M2HD is a mATX motherboard and is laid out on a blue circuit board. Like always, I start with the CPU and work my way around the motherboard in a clockwise manner. The AM2 socket is just about dead center on the motherboard. On the back edge of the socket are seven electrolytic capacitors. They are lower profile, but care should still be taken when choosing a CPU cooler.
Off to the right are four DIMM slots; a bank of blue and black uses the same color DIMM slots for dual channel. Further off to the right is the motherboard power header and the IDE and Floppy headers. In-between the headers is a surface mount VCC LED that indicates system power.
Moving to the lower right corner, which is the busiest corner on any motherboard, we have the BIOS chip, Super I/O chip, surface mount LED to indicate the 5VSB from the PSU, the BIOS battery, four SATAII headers, four USB2 headers, the front panel I/O header, and lastly, under the abit heatsink is the NVIDIA nForce 630a South Bridge chip.
