Introduction:

Nvidia has been busier than ever it seems shipping GPUs like they're running a fast food drive through. The latest GPUs to reach us that are of significance to people who really enjoy good graphics are the 9800 GT, 260 GTX, and similar 280 GTX. While the 260 and 280 GTXs aren't visually different, one is a fully functional GPU while the other is just ever so slightly scaled back almost like a few switches have been turned off internally.

The 9800 GT is basically a G92 GPU found in the 8800 GTS. About the only thing different are sometimes the labels and some firmware. That's not really a bad deal though as the G92 has been a really sweet GPU to the graphic card makers around the globe. It's basic core seems to have more to offer than what we've seen. Whether or not we've seen the end of it is as good a question as any.

Getting back to the 260 GTX and 280 GTX, these are the current top of the line graphics cards. You can find them shipping from just about every vendor. One of the newest graphics card manufacturers I've had the pleasure of working with is Zotac. Who is Zotac?

Zotac has been around for a few years now and finally heating things up by providing anything but stock graphics cards. The thing that stands out most about these guys, if you haven't browsed their product line yet, is that everything comes "AMP". That means, you won't find any stock frequencies here, but factory overclocked and tuned graphics cards. Their slogan is, "It's Time to Play".

ZOTAC - It's time to Play!
ZOTAC International (MCO) Limited was established in 2006 with a mission to deliver superb quality of NVIDIA graphic solutions to the industry. It has strong backup from the parent group, PC Partner Ltd. Headquartered in Hong Kong, factory in Mainland China and regional sales offices in Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America. The support ZOTAC provides is currently the largest of its kind around the world.

With 40 SMT lines, 6,000 workers and 100,000 square-feet, ZOTAC features a full array of state-of-the-art facilities and machineries. In addition, ZOTAC has over 130 R&D professionals in Hong Kong, China with warranty and service centers in strategic countries to enable effective and efficient worldwide as well as localized sales and marketing supports.

ZOTAC with NVIDIA not only means superb quality, it also means high performance, absolute reliability and great value. In the past year, ZOTAC was compared and tested by several influential members in the media and have proven its products are good quality, worth-to-buy graphic cards in the market. With the product features of overclocked performance, excellent cooling properties and unique packaging ZOTAC products definitely exceed users’ expectations.

ZOTAC’s commitment to our users is to bring the latest products quickly to the market with the best value. Doubtless to say, ZOTAC is the right choice for those who require high-quality graphic solutions.

Their newest affordable graphics card in the line up is the 9800 GT AMP Edition boasting 512MB of video memory. Now, I was suppose to show you this card all by its lonesome. But, its two older, more powerful siblings were equally impressive.

*New* Zotac 9800 GT AMP Edition

In order to really understand who these guys are and what they do, I decided to go for the triple play and fully attempt to melt down their top three graphics cards. Here, we have the Zotac 9800 GT AMP, 260 GTX AMP, and 280 GTX AMP Edition Graphics Cards. Some are big, they're all fast, and they have a hint of orange for vitamin C. Is it just a slogan, or is it for real?
