Testing:

Load Testing was done utilizing 2 hour stress testing sessions using programs like Prime95 and intense 3D games including Need for Speed: Carbon and FEAR. Idle testing was allowing to system to idle at room temperature for at least 30mins.

Test Platform:

  • ASUS P5B Deluxe

  • Intel E6400 Core 2 Duo

  • Nvidia 7800GT OC

  • 2x Western Digital 80GB HDD's

  • 1x Western Digital Raptor HDD

  • 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2

  • Sony 16x DVD-RW

  • Creative Audigy2 ZS Gamers

Efficiency Testing:

Efficiency testing was done using my trusty Seasonic power angel. It will test the Power Factor of this unit. What that means is it will tell us exactly how much of the power drawn from your wall socket is actually being used. The higher the percentage of the PFC, the better. Let's take a look at the whole scope of recent power supply reviews.

Blue LED's Inside

Subtle Glow

Once I powered this unit up, I immediately noticed the blue LED glow was less than subtle. The glow appeared to be very lopsided on this unit with more glow on one side than the other. I think a 120mm blue LED fan would've produced a much bigger effect.

Efficiency Test Results:

Zalman ZM600-HP  123.1 1.41 168w 174va 59.9 0.96%

The results of the Zalman ZM600-HP 600w were very good. Utilizing the newest technology in efficient power consumption, it's hard to ignore the stats compared to some of the other 'older' popular power supplies in the market especially when you consider it's size and rating. It produces good power and it doesn't waste it and that's a great thing.

If you're like me and running at least one computer 24hrs a day/7days a week, you will seriously want to get a highly efficient power supply as soon as possible. Not only do they save you money in the long run, they also run more efficiently which means they run cleaner. That should equate to a nice long life also.
