A Closer Look: As I stated earlier, at first glance it looks like previous Zalman power supplies. However upon closer inspection you'll notice not only a modular cabling system and an interior heatpipe. These are huge additions to really bring this power supply into a league of it's own. It's not the first modular unit on the market, but as far as I know, it's the first power supply with a heatpipe inside! And who better to engineer a heatpipe inside a power supply than Zalman? No one. They're are, in my opinion, the heatpipe kings right now. Sure there are other companies popping out heatpipe designs, but Zalman quality is just outstanding. Back to the power supply, you can see the modular plugs on the back of the power supply both clearly marked and also of varying sizes to help the end user avoid plugging in the wrong cables (btw, that can be very very bad!). The Cables: The 20-24pin main ATX is done a little different than I'm used to. The 4pin extension is usually already connected to one side of the 20pin. However Zalman included the 4pin extension but didn't attach it to the 20pin, nor is there a definitive marking on which side it should go on. So you'll just have to figure it out. Luckily it will only fit into the motherboard one way. The modular cabling is done well with black sleeving, though it's not perfectly done edge to edge. The cables came nicely separated in the box using velcro straps. Something as simple as velcro straps just simply make things easier and neater. I can appreciate that versus cheap elastic bands that snap when you try to take them off, or crappy wire ties. Zalman included enough cabling to fill up the rear of the ZM-600HP, plus one cable. This allows you to use the cabling more efficiently. Let's say you don't run SLI and don't need the extra (modular) PCI-e cable, you can simple exchange it for a cable that runs 3 SATA drives instead.
Inside the ZM600-HP: Here you can see the inside of the ZM600-HP. This will certainly void your warranty, but that's what I'm here for. The interior is pretty neat and the heatpipe gives it a unique look to what I'm used to seeing in there. The large ADDA 120mm fan will keep everything inside very cool so no need to worry about this power supply overheating.
