Computer cases are often the last item on
someone's upgrade list. And if it's not, it should be. The reason for saying
such a thing is that some components are a little larger than normal, especially
video cards and CPU coolers. There are even a few motherboards that take up a
little extra space. A good example would be Intel's Skull Trail motherboard. One
can't install that motherboard in just any ATX case.
Video cards have caused problems for more than just a few folks. (I can just
hear the grumbling and heavy sighs as some read this.) These folks are more
commonly gamers and users who upgraded their proprietary, or prebuilt custom PCs
from local stores. That sweet new card arrives and ends up being about 4" longer
than their current card already cramped inside.
And then there's the oversized CPU coolers. These good people again find
themselves trying to figure out what to do with that new CPU tower cooler they
bought in hopes of replacing their stock or cheaper made cooler. Now, they have
to refund or replace new cooler with something more compact.
Essentially, in all of these cases, the once main stream computer case ends up
creating further problems rather than improving the process. I only bring this
up because it makes sense to consider a good working enclosure if you're
upgrading to larger components. One can't just pick any case if you have
performance parts. Performance parts get pretty warm and need plenty of cooling.
Another poorly ventilated case just won't do. And again, since a bulk of the
folks stuck in the middle of their upgrade process tend to be enthusiasts like
gamers, there are some solutions available.
XClio is one of those companies that works at including modified ideas around
unique chassis designs. Or, it could be argued vice versa. One of those ideas
come to fruition is the
XClio-1000 Enclosure.
