It's been a while since we've worked on anything from Vantec. These guys seem to
always have something really cool for you graphics cards, cases, and external
storage drives. There's so many options out there to choose from that it really
comes down to performance and preference. Even my own first experiences have
drawn my browser to their web page just to see what was new and if it worked on
my system. Now that I have a few reviews under the belt, all of the pictures and
HTML pages have started filling up four of my eight hard drives. In the
beginning, I never had a need for any kind of external storage drives, but that
has changed.
Even now there still quite a few old and new school users who are beginning to
realize that external storage drives come in very, very handy. The two main
things one has to consider before buying an external enclosure is the interface
method, meaning whether USB 2.0 or SATA. The second is the size of the drive
that you choose to install in it. You could use anything from 40GB up to 1TB
these days. Your biggest obstacle is choosing the external enclosure and your
own Operating System. Assuming that your OS and system is working properly, we
have a suggestion for the external enclosure.
It just so happens as I was surfing for some good external storage options,
Vantec came knocking with a new external storage enclosure. Vantec's NexStar
storage solutions aren't new to the market. They have eight different NexStar
revisions which includes one of their latest, the Vantec NexStar MX. The earlier
models all had similar features such as USB 2.0 with backward compatibility, all
aluminum housing, different sizes, and single drive connect ability. What they
didn't have was a dual drive storage solution for the power users. Well, Vantec
has answered the call! Allow me to give you a tour of the new Vantec NexStar MX
Dual Storage Enclosure.
