Cables:

As mentioned before, the cables for the Ultra X2 Extreme Edition PSU came in their own box. Plenty of cables are given, and they each have a nice amount of length to route around in your enclosure. Speaking about routing the cables: the sheath covering the cable is made from a soft, flexible material, thus earning the name of FlexForce. The FlexForce cables come in various lengths and styles, and all the information on the cables are listed below.

Installing the Ultra X2 750W EE power supply is like installing any other power supply. Slide the power supply into the proper location and use the four supplied screws to secure the power supply to the case. Now for testing. Since we at VH can't afford to spend $50,000 on a Chroma C8000 Automatic Power Supply Test System and Dice refuses to get one for review, we can only really test the PFC rating of a power supply. I did this by generating a 200W power load, along with the power load from the computer hardware listed below, which gives me around 340W-350W. Also, showing voltage readings under idle and load conditions don't mean a thing without the proper test equipment. It is normal for the voltage to fluctuate under these conditions, so my testing for now on will just show the Power Factor.

Test Rig:

Seasonic Power Angel will be used to read the efficiency of the power supply under normal system load. With my system setup, there is no way I'm going to get near the max wattage rating of this PSU, so we shall see the PFC rating under a normal system.

Conclusion:

You may notice in the test graph that the PF rating is rather low or high, depending on how you look at it. The .82% is above the normal reading that is given from Ultra, and will be what the average user will see due to the fact that I'm only pulling roughly 350W. My system setup didn't even dent the capabilities of the Ultra X2 750W Extreme Edition, but users with a higher demand for the wattage should see a much more efficient reading overall. You may also notice that I don't have any voltage readings of the rails fluctuating; well, any minor fluctuating is normal whether at idle or at full load.

What I can say is how shiny it is. A word of warning: DO NOT OPEN IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT OR SERIOUS HARM TO THE EYEBALLS MAY OCCUR. The titanium finish is smooth and will look good in any enclosure into which it's put. The UV blue light casts a nice, even glow throughout the PSU and isn't overwhelming, and the fan was extremely quiet. The cables have always been a dream to work with, and they still are with this current release.

The overall performance is rock solid and stable for what I could push into it, keep in mind that was only up to about 350w. The 120mm fan kept everything cool and quiet, and the X-Connect with FlexForce was easy to work with. With the luxury of having 750W of power at your fingertips, the Ultra X2 750W EE should have enough juice to power all of your hardware without any worries. If you're going to be pulling over 350w (say, Nvidia SLI or the like) you might want to look around the web for someone else able to put a full load on this unit and see how it performs. I would like to thank Ultra for sending out this item VH to review.

Update: HardOCP just posted a review of this unit and frankly, they hated it! o_0 Be sure to notice the 500w and above testing they did and how it failed miserably. That's a damn shame. Tisk, tisk Ultra. Come on you can do better than that and your buyers deserve better!
