Introduction: Tuniq has recently come out with a new series of power supplies called the "Miniplant". This new line of power supply comes in three versions: 1200W, 1000W, and 950W. In this upcoming review, we will be going over the 950W Miniplant power supply. So what exactly is the Miniplant, now that we know it isn't a nuclear device? It's a 950W powerhouse packed into a standard-sized PSU enclosure. With this type of power and small footprint, this power supply would be geared to the mobile gamer, who needs that extra bit of wattage for their SLI/CrossFire setups without the extra acreage. Some of the prominent features of the Miniplant are the high efficiency 80+ certification, multiple circuit protection, active PFC, and a plethora of cable connections to keep everyone happy. About the Company:

Packaging:
The Tuniq Miniplant 950W comes packaged in an all-black retail box, with a picture of the power supply on the front. A list of features is on the backside, specifications are on the bottom, and a breakdown of the cable connectors on the one side panel. On the top of the box is a built-in plastic carrying handle, although you can't use it since the entire box has been wrapped in heat-shrink plastic.
After removing the plastic wrap, I gave the incorporated handle a quick test. Everything appeared in working order. Next, I opened up the box. The Miniplant is protected by foam padding, and the cables are tucked in an enclosed box. A simple user manual is also included along with 10 cable ties. A Closer Look:
After removing the Miniplant 950W from its box and protection, we get to see that the color is not the standard black. Rather, it has a silver metallic or gunmetal finish. On the bottom of the power supply is the opening for the 135 mm fan intake with matching color grill. The exterior is one large mesh opening, with honeycomb-shaped holes for easy airflow. On the one side panel is a sticker with the specifications of the power supply, and on this sticker you will notice four 12V rails at 20 amps each. Plenty of power for the hardcore gamer. << Back to VH FrontPage | Installation & Testing >>
