Introduction:

From those days of foggy memories, far back in 1999, Thermaltake has always been a name known to anyone looking for a fix to the dodgy stock cooling of their system. Though early solutions seemed to focus on mating a little more metal with a lot more airflow (a thing of style in the Delta era, I suppose), the early sinks of Thermaltake turned out to be simple, but effective affairs.

Yet, as with any company wishing to stay successful, Thermaltake’s lines have branched away from just the cooling market, and today, you’ll find an entire range of perpetual and enclosures from these guys, ranging from the best budget solutions, to the highest end of beasts, with a bevy of accessories always available. It’s such a range, that you even start to see some interesting oddities among the flop – like an honest to existence cup holder and lighter, taking the place of, and hopefully saving the life of, a 5 ½” bay – perhaps a stopgap solution to that age old “eject cup holder” joke.

For this review though, you the reader might want to keep the beverages away from the system, as I’ll be flooding the veins of my test rig soon enough. That’s right, today on the bench is Thermaltake’s ProWater 850i – an all-in-one starter watercooling kit with a decidedly set of pretty packaging. Will it perform to expectations, or simply end up as another one of those mistaken purchases? Roll on over to the next page to find out.
