Every company that specializes in
computer cases seem to be making external storage enclosures. And when you think
about it, some of those companies are very good at what they do, so why not?
They understand the concept of storage since that's basically the purpose of a
computer case. It stores our computer system.
An external enclosure is just a shrunken down version with a working internal
PCB circuit board, using some form of ventilation, and stores a component. In
this particular case, it's just one or more hard drives. The objective is still
the same in that it must (or should) be cooled sufficiently and be easy to
function.
Alas, that's not always the case in either situation. But, some companies are
really passionate about their goal and products. Tagan, whom we've met at CES
regularly, always seems to have something new and useful in this area. Storage
enclosures typically came in a one drive format but have increased in size over
the last couple years. That's because more and more people are finding new ways
to use their PC for other things than gaming such as, music, movies, and video.
This means the market is looking for a solution that stores not only one large
hard drive, but two or more. All those hobbies take up a lot of drive space in
no time. And users like the feature of having some extra room to grow which is
why ICY BOX graciously sent us their new
Icy Box
