Introduction: Super Talent Technology has really made a name for itself with the enthusiast crowd over the past 18 months by releasing some of the best overclocking dual channel memory kits in the market. Namely the kit featured here in one of my previous overclocking articles that was rated for 800mhz and overclocked to 1100mhz! Insanely good overclocking kits is due mostly to the fact that Super Talent uses the premiere Micron D9 IC's. All the best kits in the market use Micron IC's. You pay more for them, but they're the best. Period. Super Talent recently revamped the looks of all their Overclocking kits with new blue heatspreaders. And let me tell you these are some beefy heatspreaders. The kit I'll be checking out today is their new T1000UX2G4 PC2-8000 (DDR2-1000mhz) dual channel DDR2 memory kit. It's rated for 1000MHz operation at an aggressive 4-5-4-15 and a respectable voltage of 2.2v. Let's take a look at the complete set of features and specs. Here's some information from the official .pdf from Super Talent. Features:
Specifications:
New Packaging: Super Talent have also increased the protection of their modules by moving to a new wider clear packaging. The new (HE) heatspreaders are also prominently displayed. I guess you can say Super Talent has moved to the standard with this packaging since it's what most of the enthusiast aftermarket memory companies are using. A Closer Look:
As you can see the new heatspreaders are a nice blue (that react aggressively to camera flash#!@). I was a little disappointed that Super Talent decided to pretty up only one side of the modules. The front looks nice and beefy, but the back side looks rather...forgotten about.
The heatspreaders are made from thick cast aluminum and then painted in blue. When I say thick, I mean thick. These sticks feel very solid in the hand and they're heavier than most memory modules (heavier = more expensive? :). The last Super Talent heatspreaders I had were fitted like a one piece wrapping over the top of the module. These new ones are thermally bonded from each side. And let me tell you, they're on there good. I won't be ripping these off for the review.
