Introduction: In this article I will be reviewing the UFO Acrylic Case from Sunbeam. This case is 100% clear and comes in a low profile cube. Two levels offer easy installation of components, and it even has some extra room for watercooling gear. The UFO Acrylic Cube case also comes with two clear 120mm fans with blue LED's. If you plan on showing off your prized hardware in this clear case, I would suggest getting some hard drive enclosures and nice optical drive to compliment the other hardware, as everyone will be able to see everything. The UFO Acrylic Cube comes unassembled and well packed with lots of foam protection. The only real danger from damage is from the carelessness of the end user building the cube. Full Details: SunbeamTech UFO Description Page Packaging:
When I was first offered this case, I said, "I'LL TAKE IT," like I always do. When the package arrived in the mail, I was quite surprised at the size of the box. I was expecting a much bigger box; instead what I got was a cube case in kit form. Oh, well... at least it wasn't another bat case. The retail box is roughly 17"x14"x4", with a picture of an assembled UFO case on the front and more pictures of an assembled case on the back.
With everything in pieces, I was concerned about the parts being damaged from shipping. Well, the contents are well packed in layers of protection. After removing the contents, you can see a ring of protection with foam block to protect the corners of the case pieces. After removing the outside protection, it's time to open up the inner box with all the pieces. This inner box separates the pieces with thin foam sheets. With all this protection, damage during shipping will be kept to a minimum.
