Introduction:

SilenX ICX-120HA2 Extreme CPU Cooler

The CPU cooling industry has really, really heated up over last couple years. The big advancements in cooling "technology" have leveled off now that it seems heat pipes and materials have matured. There are droves of CPU coolers available with these designs that can easily do the job similarly within just a few degrees of each other. It's now come down to personal preferences such as color, shape, noise, and installation methods.

Since all but a couple CPU coolers require removing the motherboard for installation purposes, we're seemingly destined to continue mainly due to the size of some coolers. It's the safest method given how heavy the tower coolers can be. Besides, those coolers that use stock installation methods average about half the performance between tower coolers and stock retail CPU coolers.

Let's be realistic. Unless you have some special cooling method, then large heat pipe CPU coolers are the cheapest, best option. Some come with large fans and sometimes two fans. Since noisy fans on good CPU coolers aren't attractive, we're then left to choose from great coolers hoping they come with a fast, efficient, and quiet fan.

Acoustic PC, one of the foremost stores to sell the quietest PC components on the market, sent us one of their newest CPU coolers. The SilenX ICX-HA2 Extreme Performance CPU Cooler mixes a little bit of old school design with some new school. It promises to be a silent cooling solution worthy of its price.

Specifications:

Silenx Quiet CPU Cooler ICX-120HA2:

The SilenX IXC-120HA2 simply offers the best cooling performance you can get through direct touch enlarged 8mm heat pipes! It also improves significantly with the dual-fan setup and becomes the new point of reference for silent-freaks!

CPU Heatsink Base:

About Direct Touch Technology:
Direct touch technology with huge 8mm heatpipes does the trick and offers maximum CPU Cooling performance directly to the heatpipe dissipating heat extremely fast and efficiently.

Details
Our customers asked us to make the highest performance heatsink possible. We not only did that, but we managed to do it at the lowest noise levels as well! Introducing the IXC-120HA2, which, as one reviewer puts it, "the best cooler in the world". With a thermal resistance of 0.09°C/W, we're talking 500 watts of heat dissipation at room temperature! The heatpipes are enormous 8mm pipes that have twice the thermal capacity of the smaller 6mm units on the competition. We won't kid around by multiplying the number of heatpipes by two as our competitors seem to do. There's no need to do that when we embarrass their products on the benchmarks! And to achieve that with lower mass, you won't need to fiddle around with the mess of exotic watercooling. Installation couldn't be simpler! There's no need to remove the motherboard, just snap in and latch the levers. Someone with no computer background can mount it in a minute or two tops. Includes a fan controller for precise manual control over the fan noise.
