Introduction: CrayzPC offers a lot of, well, crazy and unique computer products, and the Kama Connect ranks right up there with the best of them. "Kama Connect, what is that?" you say. The Kama Connect is a... now get this... USB2.0 to SATA and IDE Multi Adapter Kit. Yup, that is a mouthful. Basically, it's an external adapter that plugs into hard drives and optical drives. Included is an external power supply with an on/off switch mounted in the power cord. All the data transfer from the attached drives pass into the adapter and out through 2.0 USB cable. Nifty, eh? The concept is just about any IDE or SATA drive can be connected to your computer via USB, and all of this is done without an enclosure. About the Company: Welcome to CrazyPC! We hope that you

A Closer Look:
The Kama Connect comes packaged in a small box, just slightly larger than an optical drive. The front of the box displays a picture of the adapter and several smaller pictures with the adapter connected to various devices. The back side of the box explains the different connection points, and gives a list of the included items.
After opening up the box, I was surprised at how small the actual adapter was. I was expecting something at least twice the size. This is a small device, measuring 2.75"W x 2.25"W x 0.50H. On one side there is an IDE connection, and just opposite of that is the SATA connection. On the one side of the Kama Connect adapter is the power input and USB connection. The top of the adapter has two status LED's: one for power and the other for access.
For power, a small self-contained power supply is included. The wire coming from the power supply to the adapter has a built-in power switch. Other included wiring is the USB cable and splitter cable for powering an IDE device, either a hard drive or optical drive. This splitter is not needed if a SATA drive is used; these drives get the power directly from the SATA connection.
A software CD is also included for the Win98 user; for the rest of us, it's Plug'n Play. Hooking up drives is rather simple: just plug the appropriate connector into the device, then the USB cable to the computer. One nice feature of the Kama Connect is that one IDE and one SATA device can be connected at the same time. Unfortunately, there are not enough connections to handle two SATA or IDE drives at the same time.
