Introduction:

NesteQ ECS5001 Power Supply

One thing that's always cool and never gets old, is being able to check out something new that we at VH haven't had the privilege to review before. While modification toys and gizmos don't always catch our attention, new hardware is always a welcomed project.

Typically, we receive power supplies from just about every manufacturer. There's quite an impressive list of names out there these days. Chances are you've seen a review or the PSU in one or more stores. You've probably even bought a few over the years. One great thing about them all is that we haven't really had any that just plain "sucked". They've all worked and produce a successful series of test results.

Today, I have a new power supply from a company new to this test bench. NesteQ, is primarily based in Hamburg, Germany. NesteQ is one of the latest companies to push for more efficient power supplies rather than monster wattage. What they've sent is one of their newest power supplies from the EECS series, the ECS5001, which has a few features you've grown to respect and a couple new features not seen before.

First, have a look at the ECS5001 specifications and features. See if you can spot the unique feature that can be really useful when configuring your system to the power supply.

Specifications:

EECS – Enhanced Easy Connecting System
Extended cable parts and HDD/FDD-connectors can be jointed up to the desired length and the required facility.
4 connector options for expansion or application:
- 4 Pin HDD connector
- SATA connector
- FDD connector
- Expansion cable

A user can joint the cables up to the length as desired, and find the right connector for himself from the cable options. Up to 4 HDD/FDD cables can be connected and well functional.

ECCD – Ergonomic Cable Connection Design
The patented cable management system is revolutionary and not yet seen elsewhere in the market!! The cables are positioned out at the same side where the facilities are located. The cables are just close to the facilities, so from now on a user can be free from a nightmarish mess inside his PC case. The ergonomic positioning of the cables makes the cables themselves so neat in nice order that the installation task becomes easier and enjoyable.

SFCS – Smart Fan Controlling System
With FM function, RPM (fan speed) of the embedded 13.5cm silent cooling fan can be monitored by BIOS.

SVSS – Smart Voltage Stabilization System

The output voltage tolerance for CPU and graphic card is kept stable under 3%.

High efficiency of 80%
Average Efficiency over 80%
Max. Efficiency up to 86%
Conforming to 80 Plus norm
