Installation and Testing:
Installing RAM into a computer is not difficult. Find out which slots are needed for Dual Channel, and then make sure the tab in the RAM slot lines up with the notch in the RAM. Push firmly and bingo, bango, all done. Now it's time for testing. After the RAM is installed, it's always a good idea to reset the BIOS and start off fresh. With the Mushkin RAM installed and the BIOS reset, the BIOS auto detected the RAM at 5-4-4-12, which are the stock specs of the RAM.
SiSoftware Sandra Professional Business XI Results:
Conclusion: This is where actions speak louder than words. Price versus performance - that is the question that needs to be answered, and the numbers above speak for themselves. A stable 170Mhz overclock using the 2.0 voltage settings and a 262MHz overclock with 2.2volts. Now keep in mind that this is happening with the stock timings; with some additional tweaking I'm sure a few extra MHz can be squeezed out. There has been some talk on the internet about the Micron D9 modules being good overclockers, and the story holds true for this batch. Yes, it's true that 2GB is plenty of RAM but 4GB is twice as nice, and with the price of this kit just under $350 the question is simply answered, the performance outweighs the price. Not too many people are in the market for a 4GB kit of RAM, but if you are a gamer, video editor, or looking for something to brag about, then by all means pick up the Mushkin 4GB HP2-6400 DDR2 RAM and enjoy the benefits. I would like to thank Mushkin for sending this kit out to VH for review.
