Introduction:
Many of the best overclocking records in the past have come with the help
of Asetek's water blocks. Asetek has become a common name among resellers
across the web, especially their best CPU block to date, the Antarctica.
Since 1998, Asetek has had an exciting history of milestones setting record
after record showing their abilities to take computer systems to the extreme,
most notably, the VapoChill. With records being set by the Vapochill, we've come
to expect great things from Asetek. Looking at the water blocks, you can see how very clean, clear, and thick each acrylic top appears. You can easily see through to the channels and the quality of copper machining. The copper bases are perfectly flat and very thick which ensures optimal surface transfer. These are well constructed to say the least and feel very solid. And by solid I mean, these blocks are heavier than anything on the test bench to date. Blocks this heavy should be connected to the tubing before installing them on the components due to their weight and size. The CPU Antarctica Cooler block is by far the heaviest of the three blocks and has internal "push on" fittings rather than external barbs which utilize internal O-rings to provide the seal to prevent water from leaking. This style of tube attachment might concern some, but it has proven itself on many other test benches to be a secure connection. There aren't any barbs, screw rings, or clamps to assemble or mount. Instead, you have to push the tubing in to water block's receptor fully and completely. If you do not push the tubing completely in, you will definitely have water leaking out of your system. Thus, you can not get around the leak test before powering up. Pumping the water is obviously very important with this kit, so you get the Asetek Waterchill Extreme 12v with the integrated pump and reservoir. Instead of two components, they are manufactured as a complete unit which has to be the easiest solution for many users. This pump is capable of a maximum 1020 L/H and a head maximum of 240 centimeters. Also included is the Asetek Water Chill Control Panel which allows you to control fan and pump speeds, as well as, monitoring temps, saving preset configurations for gaming, overclocking, or normal use, and turning the reservoir LED on and off.
