Testing:

Logitech recommends a certain installation process where by you install the drivers before you ever connect the ChillStream to the PC via it's USB connection. So, place the mini-CD into your optical drive on your PC and this is what you'll get...

Personally I only installed the Microsoft Common Controller Driver, but you see there is other software there at your disposal. Installation of the MS driver took just a few seconds. After that is done, you can then plug in the ChillStream controller to an available USB port. At this point, nothing really happens. No annoying pop-ups, which is great.

I then went to the Game controller settings in the Control Panel for Win XP Pro. Here's what you'll see...

XUSB eh? I guess that's right. Now it's time to check the configuration to be sure it's working properly...

Yep, it's all there and everything works as planned. You can go ahead and calibrate it to your likings here. Once this is done, it's ready to use!

Usage:

To test this Logitech ChillStream I played a few racing games like Flatout2, GTI Racing and Need for Speed: Carbon. After a few minutes of getting used to the controls, it was easy peasy. The ChillStream is lightweight allowing for a more comfortable gaming experience. The controls are very precise and the drivers work great.

I didn't test it in games like Quake 4 or F.E.A.R because honestly I don't know anyone who would use a gamepad for a FPS. This is made for adventure, RPG, or Racing in my opinion.

Configuring the controls for the ChillStream (XUSB) in games was very easy and worked every time which is a result of Logitech's thorough work to integrate the controller into windows.

Conclusion:

I think Logitech did a stellar job in delivering a unique and quality product that does everything it's suppose to do and keeps your hands cool at the same time. ChillStream is the perfect name for this controller as it certainly delivers a stream of chilled air into your hands. It's so cool in fact that I had to turn it off sometimes because my hands were getting too cold!

The ChillStream feels great, works great and has the added bonus of keeping your hard gaming hands nice and cool. I can totally recommend this PC game Controller to our readers. If you'd like to pick one up for your PC, you can do so right on Logitech website for just $39.99. If you'd like one for your new PS3, you can do so by clicking below.

I'd like to thank Logitech for sending out the ChillStream for review. It is my gamepad of choice now.
