The Lapinator Triplets

Lapinator vs. Lapinator Plus:

   It's time to see these Lapinators in action. Pay close attention to the widths of the Lapinator and also the Mousitizer extension. I won't leave you wondering though, so no worries.

Testing:

   Testing the Lapinator was done the real world way: by using it! Hours and hours were spent on the lap where it belongs right between the laptop and the legs. I'm happy to say that the claims Lapinator make of it keeping you cool is exactly right.

   The potent combination of Thinsulate and the dual bumper cushion bottom completely separate the end user from the heat generating laptop.

   During the hours of testing, many ups and downs from the couch were performed (we got 2 kids!) and although both Lapinators are exceptionally lightweight and strong, the Lapinator Plus really had my attention for its perfect size  for my particular laptop. Getting up and down was a breeze even with the Mousitizer installed. Like I said earlier, it's firmly attached and my trackball never left it no matter the situation. It was very comfortable to use as a companion to the Lapinator (plus) and both products held my large laptop and trackball firmly in place. Traction is exceptional.

   Even after many hours of usage, the legs stayed cool and comfortable. Not to mention the laptop itself was running much cooler since it was able to breathe adequately while sitting on the firm surface of the Lapinator.

It's really a win/win situation. You help increase the life of your laptop by maintaining safe operating temperatures, and you also save yourself from working up a sweat on the laptop because your legs are cooking!

   I'd say it passed with flying colors. I'm very happy with the Lapinator Plus/Mousitizer Combo. The Original Lapinator, although just as high quality and all the same great features, was simply too small for me to enjoy fully.

Conclusion:

   I have to say my wife has totally fallen in love with the Lapinator Plus with the Mousitizer installed. It's not only greatly comfortable, but it's also high quality. The firm top, and soft bottom of the Lapinator products are just great and really couldn't be much better unless you had a personal mold of your legs made.

   The new Mousitizer, which I didn't even know existed until I got it in the mail, is a delightful surprise and an impressive addition to the Lapinator line. It's just so simple, it's great. I mean all it does it slide into the grooves of the Lapinator. There's no moving parts. It's not rocket science, but what it is, is a perfect companion.

   If you've got a tiny laptop, the original Lapinator will do wonder for you. However if you've got a larger laptop, you're definitely going to want to go with the larger Lapinator Plus. I've got one of the larger laptops on the market and the Plus is just perfect. Spoil yourself and add the Mousitizer and enjoy endless hours of cool comfortable computing.

   It's been almost 2 years since I originally reviewed the lapinator line of laptop desks. Seldom does any product stick around long enough in my house to be worthy of an update on the review, but the Lapinator Plus is the exception.

   If you've read this review up to this point, then you already know that the laptop used in this review is my wife's Dell Inspiron 6000 and she absolutely loved the lapinator plus back then. But what you didn't know is that almost 2 years later she still loves it and uses it every single day. The lapinator looks as good as the day I got it for her laptop.

  So over the past 20 months, I've observed how great the lapinator plus w/mousitizer has worked for her so when I ordered my own laptop 3 weeks ago, I knew I needed one for myself because my wife certainly wasn't giving up hers. So I contacted lapinator for a another lapinator plus w/mousitizer. The laptop I ordered was a spanking new HP dv9500t 17" laptop loaded with all the latest (and hottest) technologies including 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 7200rpm HDD and NVIDIA 8600 GPU. Not to mention the 17" screen...it's no small laptop but I knew the 18" width and 12" depth of the lapinator plus could handle the size.

   I've now been personally using this for a couple weeks at about a few hours a day and I have got to say I now understand why my wife loves it so much. It's comfortable for hours of work on your lap and with the mousitizer addition and my Logitech Trackman Optical, it's a match made in heaven. It simply doesn't get any better than this for using your laptop on the couch, or in a recliner, etc.

   Sure if you use your laptop on the kitchen table or on a desktop all the time, this product isn't for you. You'd be better off with a hard laptop cooler platform. However this product is best suited for relaxing on the couch, especially in a reclined position. I'm on the couch right now writing this up and it's great.

   Now I know some of you out there that are used to using a bare laptop on your lap and maybe even used to practically burning your legs thinking it's the only way. Maybe some of you are doing the unthinkable and using your laptop on a pillow on your lap. Let me just say that is one of the worst things you can do for the health of your laptop. Laptops create quite a bit of heat and that heat needs to escape. Swallowing up the bottom of your laptop with a pillow will undoubtedly block up your laptop's exhaust vents and either cause your machine to overheat, or at least diminish it's life by running way too hot.

The lapinator does an outstanding job of protecting your legs from a hot laptop. Here's some proof! The pictures below were taken using my new laser temp gun and after the laptop was used on the lapinator plus for approximately 3 hours doing various heat generating tasks. Take a look at these temperature readings!!

Side Exhaust = 103.1 F

Rear Exhaust = 107.4 F

On your legs = 78.1 F

Now how's that for proof that the lapinator does what it says it does and it does it very well! Someone telling you it keeps your legs cool is one thing, but actually seeing the temp difference is another!

There are many things you "could" put on your lap in order to use your laptop easier but none like the lapinator (plus). I've tried numerous so-called laptop desks over the years as evidenced by our other reviews here on VH. I have yet to come across a product as good, as simple, or as durable as the Lapinator Plus Laptop Desk!
