Packaging: There was no fancy boxes with the Lapinator stuff, just a large padded shipping envelope. That's probably not a bad thing since I'm sure it's saving everyone some money, not to mention Lapinator is still just a small business. I think I ran across them while searching for "laptop desks" on Ebay. Whatever "it" is, you'll find "it" on Ebay!
The Original Lapinator: I was impressed with the quality, and simplicity of the Lapinator. It felt like a large mouse pad with padded bumpers on the bottom. The top is firm with very little flex which is exactly what you want because if it was too soft, the laptop would sink right into it and you'd have a lap pillow heat generator. They included 3 rather large rubber feet to attach to the lapinator should you feel the need, or if your laptop doesn't already have rubber feet on it. It's important to use them if your laptop does NOT already have feet because this is key to keeping your laptop running cool. Let's take a look at the big brother... The Lapinator Plus: The Lapinator Plus is an EXACT twin of the original Lapinator, only wider. It's made for those of you with those larger laptops like my Dell Inspiron 6000 or other 17" notebooks. And I'll tell ya what, this baby is just what the doctor ordered! I'll get to that in a bit. For now, let's take a look at the icing on the cake: the Mousitizer! The Mousitizer: There's not much to say about this little product except: Genius! It easily, but firmly slips right onto either side of both the Lapinator and Lapinator Plus. It adds precious real estate to your couch computing experience. It also comes with a foam rubber "bumper" to stick around the outside edge of the top of the Mousitizer to help your mouse from taking a dive. I chose not to install this because I use a trackball and therefore no need to worry about my mouse trying to hang itself because I don't let it near the edge! Not to mention a trackball stays stationary whether in use or not, it's driven by thumb power! Overall I love this thing and it's very handy and really adds to the overall product when attached. It's plenty firm with not too much bending or flexing. Once attached there was no fear of it simply falling off. It's on there pretty darn good once installed, yet comes right off with a little pull. Honestly I don't think it could get any handier unless it was retractable! Let's get on to seeing these products in action!
