As costs rise, many a PC
enthusiasts have had to cut back on a few things and occasionally cut a couple
corners when building their new systems. This means putting more money in to the
graphics card and a little less in to the type of computer case. Or maybe, you
decided to go with a slower speed DDR2 or DDR3 kit rather than the top modules
so you could afford the bigger power supply to feed that fancy graphics card.
Either way, we've all made a compromise here and there to build our own idea of
a worthy power machine.
Power supplies (PSU) have definitely evolved the last few years in to better and
better components. Almost every vendor has at least one line or series that can
actually be considered a good PSU. Yet, there are only a handful of vendors who
can say their PSU is exceptional. Let's be realistic here. Not everyone can
afford good PSUs and far less can afford exceptional PSUs. However, you can't
afford to put a questionable PSU in your new power house game system unless you
like leaving performance and stability to chance.
I've purchased "quasi" PSUs before out of necessity based on what I could afford
and paid for it down the line. Rather than risk that again, there are other
viable options if you don't want to shell out $300 for 1000 watt PSU to fit in
your SLI frame crunching machine, have a look at the
Kingwin ABT-1000MA1S 1000W Power Supply. It's not your every day bland PSU
and it's got something to add to your window style case.
