Introduction:
 Intel DG35EC Motherboard |
Micro-ATX based motherboards are
no longer a crippled or sub-performing component for about the last two years.
The truly best features have just come to us in the last year with the final
implementation of integrated graphics capable of producing good quality High
Definition video without the large performance hit. It use to be the only way
you could experience this was by using an HD capable video card. That started
with Nvidia 8500 GPUs up to our current latest. ATI, on the other hand, was
ahead of the curve producing that capability earlier.
None the less, everyone seems to be up to speed in the video card sector. But,
it's the motherboard sector that is definitely welcomed. Too many top of the
line Micro-ATX motherboards came up short when we really needed that feature.
Audio and Video are finally one set of features that fully makes an HTPC a very
affordable option.
Everyone seems to forget about Intel in the graphic equation. When we compare
the competition, it really comes down to performance, quality, and features.
With the arrival of the Moncaso 972 HPTC Enclosure, I finally had something to
use with the
Intel DG35EC Micro-ATX Motherboard. The real question is whether or not the
new Intel chipset hold their own.

The Intel Desktop Board DG35EC has
built-in microATX form factor supporting a range of processors including
the Intel® Core™2 Duo processor, Intel® Core™2 Quad processor, Intel®
Pentium® Dual-Core processor, Intel® Celeron® Dual-Core processor and
Celeron® processor 400 series (up to 95W TDP). This board can support up
to 8GB of dual channel DDR2 800/667 SDRAM memory. It also offers Intel®
HD Video experienceΔ, Intel® High Definition Audio with support for 5.1
surround sound, integrated 10/100/1000 Network connection and ample USB
connectors for all your computer peripherals. This Intel desktop board
also offers IEEE 1394a, a new feature that contributes to a great
digital entertainment experience. |
