Overclocking:
I'm not big fan of overclocking, and you won't see a huge section on that subject here from me. But when a motherboard is capable of overclocking, I will give some basic information on what I was able to achieve. For starters, the P35 chipset has fantastic overclocking abilities, and combined with a solid BIOS and CPU, the numbers can be mind-blowing. The GA-P35-DS4 has two of the three, and I provided the third with an E6850 CPU. The BIOS has a feature called M.I.T. or Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker. In that section of the BIOS, all the needed options for overclocking are found. With some minor voltage adjustment, I was able to get up to 445x9 - which is 4005MHz, or a stable 1GHz overclock on the processor. With the chipset on the GA-P35-DS4, I'm sure you can go further. Conclusion: Strong, Stable, Quiet, Cool, Efficient and Colorful... What more could you ask for from a motherboard? Gigabyte definitely hit the mark with the GA-P35-DS4. The gamers will love its stability and performance. The overclockers will love the features of the BIOS and the P35 chipset. The dual BIOS chips will keep your mind at peace, for if something should happen to the main BIOS, the backup will kick in. Overclocking can be done in the BIOS or in the windows-based utility called EasyTune 5. This program works well, but does ask you to reboot the computer from time to time when many changes are made. The massive cooling pipe and plate are, by far, one of the nicest setups I have seen in this trend of silent cooling. The heatsinks around the CPU socket may get in the way of some heatsinks, but that shouldn't be a real issue. Overall, the GA-P35-DS4 is a well-rounded motherboard with many features any gamer or enthusiast would love to have. As I stated before: Strong, Stable, Quiet, Cool, Efficient and Colorful... What more could you ask for from a motherboard? I would like to thank Gigabyte for sending this motherboard out for VH to review.
