Foxconn G33M-S Micro-ATX Socket 775 Motherboard

Introduction:

In this day and age; the smaller the better when it comes to PC hardware. However we also want power. The Intel Core 2 Duo processors success with computer users/enthusiasts worldwide has led many motherboard manufacturers to wrap its power in smaller and smaller packages. Intel has not only taken the performance crown with the Core 2 Duo, they haven't rested on their laurels. Intel has continued to release updated chipsets with faster technologies and the new G33 chipset is just such a release.

Foxconn is one of the worlds largest motherboard manufacturers and one of their newest motherboards for the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU is the G33M-S micro-ATX motherboard. It incorporates one of the newest Intel chipsets with integrated graphics for the home theatre crowd or those just looking to have a lean machine without the added cost of a graphics accelerator. Let's take a closer look at the specifications of the Foxconn G33M-S.

The packaging is fairly typical of newer motherboards. The included accessories, although not exceedingly, are the standard fare of a quality motherboard. The fold open full color manual is a nice touch that I see more and more manufacturers using today.

A Closer Look:

The PCB of the Foxconn G33M-S is a pleasing navy blue color with blue and yellow (with a little green thrown in). The G33M-S is also nicely laid out and I don't see any major drawbacks to the design.

The Intel G33 integrated graphics chipset has a large aluminum finned heatsink on it. There are 4 SATA ports on board along with 6 USB 2.0 ports on the back of the board.
