Enermax Galaxy 1000w Quad-SLI Power Supply

Introduction:

   When you think quality high performance power supplies, you most likely think "Enermax". They've been a leader in the PC power supply market for years providing some of the most powerful and reliable units you can buy. As growing power demands thrusts itself upon the gamer and power user, we need quality companies like Enermax to raise the game. They have certainly answered the call of the wild.

   I recently reviewed an 1100w power supply and today I'm checking out a 1000w unit. Although they're both in a market niche known as "Extreme Power User", they are both very different products not only in function, but even more drastically in form.

   Today I'll be looking at the Enermax Galaxy 1000w Quad-SLI Power Supply. To say this power supply is "powerful" is an understatement. Just a peek at the box top shows you this baby can haul the mail! Let's take a look at the wicked features and specs on this unit.

   Yea, you're reading that right...75 amps on the +12v lines! 1000w of power with a rating of 1100w peak! I wouldn't worry about that though because if you're needing to run over the 1000w and into the 1100w "peak" area, you need a nuclear reactor and not a power supply!

   The retail box for the Galaxy 1000w is unlike any other power supply. It's much longer, taller and skinnier. It's also quite heavy (heavy = $$$?). Inside the box is two smaller boxes. One for the Galaxy itself and the other for the modular cables and accessories. Even the brown cardboard boxes have some custom logos on them and a shiny sticker.

   Included in the accessories are the manual, brochure of other Enermax products, screws, power cord, stickers, and a velcro bag to house the spare modular cables. A nice package indeed. Overall the entire kit displays a feeling of power and quality.
