Introduction:

It seems everywhere we look, there are many a comments, posts, and news about the top great motherboards. And given all this information, you have to make your own decision about what to buy. There's quite a bit that goes in to making that choice such as cost, performance, and necessity. Not everyone can afford the flag ship motherboard and every last feature. A good example would be the avid gamer on a budget, or the user who doesn't need extra e-SATA and full dual 16X PCI Express features. So, what kind of choice is out there for these users?

ECS has had some pretty darn decent motherboards since their NForce 5 chipsets first arrived. Now that we're on to Intel Core 2 Duo, ECS opted to go for a more feasible LGA 775 motherboard built around the Bearlake P35 Chipset. Now, we all know the flagship P35 boards overclock very, very well and offer some excellent performance results. Scaling back the amount of features a P35 has to offer isn't a bad thing and often performs just as well minus top range overclocking, extra e-SATA ports, and elaborate heat pipe cooling.

Offering up these boards is smart business and are often very easy to keep stable since they have the least amount of features that the board's BIOS has to keep in check. These boards come at much lower cost and target that very important market niche.
