3DMark2006 Results:

CineBench9.5:

CINEBENCH is the free benchmarking tool for Windows and Mac OS, based on the powerful 3D software CINEMA 4D. Consequently, the results of tests conducted using CINEBENCH 9.5 carry significant weight when analyzing a computer’s performance in everyday use. Especially when a system’s CPU and the OpenGL capabilities of its graphics card are put through their paces (even multiprocessor systems with up to 16 dedicated CPUs or processor cores.) During the testing procedure, all relevant data is gathered, and is used to compare the performance of different computers, regardless of their operating systems. CINEBENCH includes render tasks that test the performance of up to 16 multiprocessors on the same computer, as well as software-only shading tests and OpenGL shading tests on huge numbers of animated polygons that will push any computer to its limits.

Embedded GPU

RADEON X1600

SiSoftware Sandra Home 2007:

FPS:

Here, three higher end video games were used (Doom3, Quake4, FarCry) to test the onboard graphics of the ECS GeForce6100SM-M. The MSI RADEON RX1600PRO was also used to compare the performance between an onboard GPU and an add-on card.

AquaMark3:

Conclusion:

The intentions of this board are more in line with a HTPC setup. The small-form factor will keep the foot print small in an entertainment setup. As it is with the onboard graphics, a decent CPU, and 2GB RAM, the GeForce6100SM-M performed flawlessly. Video playback was great, and WinXP ran without any issues from the motherboard. Now for the bad news. The onboard video with all the available memory assigned to it would not play some of today's games. Is that a problem? No, it's not unless you are a gamer. Gamers... have no fear. The GeForce6100SM-M comes with a PCI-E X16 slot, which means you can slap in an awesome graphics card to play all your favorite games.

On the other end of the spectrum, the budget HTPC builder will love the ECS GeForce6100SM-M, which uses the nForce 405 MCP featuring DirectX 9 and Shader Model 3.0. Shader Model 3.0 enables users to experience fast graphics rendering and smooth video processing, and with a free PCI-E X16, the options are plentiful. With a Video-In Video-Out (VIVO) graphics card installed, you will now have a small-form factor machine that has the ability to perform as well as a DVR. With all that being said, I would feel confident in using the ECS GeForce6100SM-M in a personal HTPC setup of my own. Also, with being Microsoft Vista ready, the ECS GeForce6100SM-M is ahead of the M-ATX market. I would once again like to thank ECS for sending out another fantastic motherboard for review.
