In my last Ram review, I noticed a big different between a corsair 1GB dual channel kits bandwidth and a 2GB value kit’s bandwidth. At the time, exactly what caused the difference, I don’t know. The thought had crossed my mind that a 1GB set might be innately faster than a 2GB set. So when corsair sent me their XMS 4000, I was able to put that theory to the test.
When I received the shipment, I had to laugh a bit though. If you stripped off the labels, I don’t know if I could tell the difference between my older 1GB TwinX XMS set, and the newer XMS 4000 just by looking at them. They use the same heat spreaders, which I would assume keeps costs down.
Since looks don’t matter for speed (ok, so “Red ones go faster”) let's get on to some testing!
