Introduction: Up for review today is a 600 watt power supply from CoolMax. The model number for this unit is the CoolMax Green Power CUG-600B (they also have a 700W version.) The CUG-600B is RoHS compliant, which means Restriction of Hazardous Substances. That's a good thing for the people who like to take stuff apart. This power supply also meets the standards of being "green", which means it effectively cuts down on both consumption and power loss. High efficient products are a must in this day and age of higher electricity costs and even higher demand for clean power sources. The other feature I love about the CUG-600B is that it is totally cable free. Some people may think, "Who cares?" I care, 'cause I hate unnecessary cables hanging in the case messing up the look and flow of air. OK, enough of this blah blah blah... let's go over the specs and features along with some testing in the review. Packaging:
The first thing I noticed about the packaging is that it's wrapped in plastic. Not too many powers supplies or other computers items come with this extra covering. The box is not highly detailed with graphics or pictures, just a clover in the upper right corner. The side and back are loaded with information on the power supply and the specifications. After opening up the box, I noticed a box within the box. This upper box houses all the cables from the power supply to the hardware. Under that box is the power supply, and a third box which is labeled power cord and screws.
