Introduction:

Coolermaster Silent Pro M 600W Power Supply

It's been too long since a CoolerMaster product has graced my test bench. They've been darn busy too for quite some time. Since the last product review, there's been at least six new interesting products that I'm sure generated some interest. The specific items of interest to grace retailer shelves are the new CPU coolers like the V10, Sniper Chassis, and Silent Pro Series power supplies.

The Sniper Chassis was at least something new and sort of invisible at CES. It was almost ready to launch, but pictures were said to be off limits. (That's the last time I believe marketing. *chuckle*) It's obvious CoolerMaster has some successful and interesting ideas in the area of computer cases. But, this time around, the magic is focused elsewhere.

CM has been focusing intently on their new power supply designs. More and more people are buying better grade power supplies. This is in part due to the word about how important clean power is for longer system performance as well as good for cutting down on one's power bill. Cheap power supplies don't do anything for your computer, much less your wallet. They waste more power than produce it. And given the state of the economy, it doesn't hurt to buy smart.

The Silent Pro is no exception to the rule. Quite a few refinements have been put inside that sleek, black PSU chassis. Or, so we've been told. Better balanced and higher power rails were a focus. All it needed was a little extra engineering and component upgrade or two. The new CoolerMaster Silent Pro-M 600W Power Supply is here and needs dissecting like something from Area 51. (Oh, wait, that place doesn't exist.)

Features & Specifications:

Silent Pro M 600 W

The Silent Pro M series offers three different flavor power supplies. There are 500, 600, and 700 Watt models. As usual, each model offers different amperage. Before you run off to buy the 700 Watt model, finish reading the review first. It'll save you some money.
