Weapons: The weapons and their interactions are extremely clean and look great. There are a lot to choose from and most of fire or handle pretty realistically. This goes for both hand guns and rifles. The scoped rifles are superb all around for game play. And as long as you have your controls set, you can steady your aim using the "Steady" bind which makes fine tune shooting easier. The Javelin is pretty darn fun and is about as realistic as you can get without getting in trouble with the military over the HUD you look through when locking on to a armored vehicle. Sometimes, we can't have it too realistic or the game can tread on political ground. The only things that seemed to need a little
polishing were the projectile weapons such as grenade launchers or RPGs that
fire in kind of an odd line. It doesn't quite fire in a curve like one would
expect. Also, picking up a weapon on the ground didn't always register or
happen. And more than one weapon seemed to confuse the interaction. It required
a bit of repositioning even if the weapon was directly at your feet. End of the game: Since you've read this far, you get in on the small cool feature at the end of the game. Once you've beat it, respectfully sit through the credits and you'll be rewarded with a small objective afterwards. You start in at the back of a large jet liner with the objective of saving a hostage being held at gunpoint by a terrorist. It's simple, shoot the bad guys carefully as you move through the plane and it's all done with a timer. Move to slow and you fail.
Aren't you glad you waited
through the credits? After you've completely
finished out, you'll be able to access the Arcade and Cheats options. Since,
I'm not in to using any of the game's cheats even for fun, I went hunting
for a Multiplayer server. As I mentioned, be ready to up your aim and skill
level. Multiplayer: The online multiplayer is exactly the same kind of graphical and intense game play that simply rocks. Don't let yourself get down if you don't do so well the first couple times out. Some larger weapons are more lethal in smaller bursts than on full auto like smaller ones. Just keep your sights on the target and you'll do fine. You'll also get more weapons and unlocks as you gain experience from game play. It seems certain game modes may give you more points and get you the unlocks quicker. For users who are just barely getting playable
frame rates, it's better to get very playable rates to keep game play
smooth so you can aim better. Let the game auto detect your system's settings
and then turn on other options as you test out the rates. Ultimately, the game is built with DX9 and DX10 users in mind and proves that in capable hands it can still be used to create great games. It's really obvious Activision put some heart and soul in to coming up with new design and interaction to really improve the Call of Duty 4 experience. The all around game play is great and top notch. There's plenty of action and gets down right hairy all throughout the game. It just seems sad that the Single Player ends so quickly. The glitches that I found were very small, mostly nominal, and should be really easy to fix with a patch. You'll be left really wanting to experience the
Multiplayer game play. Just make sure you bring your A game, because there are
veteran and well seasoned opponents out there very familiar with the war game
genre. Whether you are playing it on a Windows XP or Vista system, I really
don't think you'll be disappointed either way. All of the screen shots were
taken on Windows XP Pro,
so what do you think?
