Introduction:

Most of the time when I’m looking at a company for a review, they have a range of products. And usually they aren’t all doing the same task. Asrock bucks the trend, they make motherboards, nothing else.  Since I’ve never had a motherboard from  ASrock before, I have no firsthand experience on how good they are.

Some features

In truth, ASrock is a spinoff of Asus, so technically I have had experience with them. Even being a subsidiary, over the years they have distanced themselves from Asus, creating some unique boards during their history. From what I can tell, their quality has improved to the point that they might have a better reputation than Asus.

The two boards that ASrock sent out for me to check out are only slightly different from each other.  For the sake of not wanting to type them out all the time, I’m just going to refer to the AOD790GX and the A780GXE as the 790 and 780 respectively.

"790"

It takes having the specifications beside each other to really notice the differences. To make things a little easier for you, there are only really 2 things. The 790 has a better video card/soundcard than the 780. Plus the capacitors on the 790 are all solid state, but on the 780 only the capacitors for the CPU are solid state (more on that later)
