For those who are new to the world of PC
hardware, the Antec name is synonymous with computer case enclosures. Since they
are pretty much the pinnacle of regular desktop and rackmount case enclosures,
pretty much every computer store that haven't heard the name. Most of the best
features and standards have been either set or polished up by Antec in every
facet of computer enclosures. And naturally, it would make all the sense in the
world for them to come in with guns blazing offering some of the foremost
reliable power supplies. The list just keeps getting better from there on
offering up quite a few other things to make your PC experience all the more
enjoyable.
Antec are the Jedi Masters of the enclosure market. One of the best cases on the
market that we had the pleasure of reviewing was their awesome
P180 series. It would seem there wasn't a lot that could be improved with
the P180 at the time and it really didn't seem like a feasible objective to try.
One of the common remarks made about the P180 was the size of the internal
chassis. It seems big enough until you really pack in your SLI graphics and
various modified kits. Then the internal chassis seems a bit on the small and
crowded side. Its lower chamber tend to crowd the PSU wires that run up to the
upper chamber as it passed through the slot. Wire management is always a bit of
a challenge in any system. Another small issue was the lack of features that
were water or liquid cooling supportive.
Alas, Antec is one of the very best at
enclosures and part of that title comes from never excepting something just
short of great. These guys are never content unless something of theirs leaves a
mark or sets another standard. It is with great pleasure we show you the updated
P182 Enclosure and all of its improvements. Allow me to give you the tour
and offer up some new ideas that have also come from Antec. And don't be
surprised if you see the concept surface amongst other makers.
Antec Says the P182 is...
The new standard in
performance cases
Introducing the P182, the
newest edition in Antec’s continually improving Performance One design. More
innovations have been built in, such as an external fan control for the top
and rear fans, a special gun metal black finish, cable organizers and even
rubber grommeted ports for externally mounted liquidcooling radiators. All
of these improvements build upon the great features of the original P180:
the triple layer side panels and door design, and the upper and lower
chamber structure to isolate power supply heat from the rest of your
components. The P182 truly is the new standard by which all other
performance cases will be measured.
