Test Hardware:

System Information:

Here's some information on the Striker Extreme motherboard, stock E6600 CPU, and OCZ PC2-8500 memory using one of my favorite programs; CPU-z. I always include these now so you can see exactly what I'm using including BIOS versions, etc as a base platform.

SupremeFX Audio Card & Mic:

I enabled the HD audio in the BIOS also and used the included SupremeFX audio card. I found it to be high quality and should suffice all but the hardcore users out there that still feel like an additional $200 sound card is a better deal. The SupremeFX worked perfectly fine for me and I didn't notice any nasty hissing or crackling.

Testing & Overclocking:

Below you'll see some stock benchmarks using the above hardware, and then some quick overclocking results running my E6600 Core 2 Duo (2.4GHz) at 3.0Ghz. I was able to achieve a 600Mhz overclock without touching a single thing except changing the Front Side Bus speeds from 1066Mhz all the way up to 1333Mhz. Since I locked the memory at 1066Mhz, it was very easy overclocking without having the memory become a limiter.

FutureMark Results:

Stock @ 1066FSB @ 2.4GHz

PCMark05 6365
3DMark05 15,677
3DMark06 10,772

Overclocked @ 1333FSB @ 3.0GHz

3DMark05 18,954
3DMark06 12,745

SiSoft Sandra:

CPU @ 2.4GHz

CPU Multimedia @ 2.4GHz

Mem Bandwidth @ 2.4GHz

CPU @ 3.0GHz

CPU Multimedia @ 3.0GHz

Mem Bandwidth @ 3.0GHz

Above you see the stock results and then the overclocked results with the FSB set to 1333MHz. Again using this hardware, that's a 600Mhz overclock while changing only a single FSB setting from 1066 to 1333. Just remember to lock the memory at whatever you're running. You just gotta love Intel Core 2 Duo's overclocking ability when combined with a top notch motherboard. I didn't go on and on with the overclocking so I can not tell you what YOUR max overclock will be. There's far too many variables with overclocking. I'm positive with more time, quality hardware, and patience you'll achieve even better results than I have here. Overclocking is time consuming and well, I got more stuff to review! Running 3.0Ghz at a 1333FSB was completely stable and passed an all night stress test!
