Software:

As is typical with premium ASUS motherboards, there is some bundled programs, monitors and utilities. Here's a sample of what you'll get with the Striker Extreme:

AiBooster

ASUS` AiBooster is a nifty little program that allows you to not only monitor the important voltages and temperatures from your desktop, but also allows you to overclock through windows also without rebooting. I've used AiBooster a ton and it's never really given me any problems unless you try to manipulate a bunch of settings at once. My philosophy is to change one thing at a time and give it 2secs after changing to actually change.

ASUS PC Probe II

ASUS` PC Probe II is a voltage and temperature monitor. Honestly I hate it and never use it. The software is buggy and has been for a long time now. Well I should be more specific, the console itself is buggy and god awful ugly, but the small windows that show your results work perfectly. This just isn't the prettiest utility I've ever seen, that's for sure.

ASUS Update

ASUS Update allows you to flash your BIOS thru windows. How I use this program is I actually go to the ASUS website, download my BIOS file, and then use this program to 'update bios from file'. I've done that many many times and it's always worked perfectly. Trying to 'update BIOS from internet' never works for me.

SoundMAX Audio Console

Not much to say here. It's a basic sound adjustment console. (this is only if you install the soundMAX drivers and use the sound card supplied with the ASUS Striker Extreme)

Select Your Options

Selected

The ASUS InstALL driver setup is pretty neat. When you put the motherboard driver CD in your optical drive, wait for the main menu, then click the ASUS InstALL option, you're greeted with the above. Just select the options you want to install and the program will take care of the rest. It'll reboot itself and everything and let you know when it's done. Really a seamless driver setup to get you off on the right track.
