More Details: You'll notice this board has not 1, not 2, but 3 PCI-e slots! This will enable you to run a full dual 16x SLI graphics configuration along with an 8x Physics card or another graphics card for more monitors, etc. There are 4 DDR2 slots capable of carrying a total of 8GB of DDR2. Close to the DDR2 slots you'll find the single IDE slot along with the 24-pin main ATX power connection. I know it looks tight, and it kinda is, but I didn't have an issue at all. One nice feature for your hard drive junkies out there is the 6 native SATA ports all located together and horizontally mounted. No more a few ports here and a few ports there. The Striker Extreme is loaded with hardwired buttons and switches on the motherboard itself which makes it an absolute breeze to setup for a reviewers or an overclockers test bench. On the back panel there is a main LED switch that turns the LED's on or off (though it's not as straight forward and I thought). It's not a simple on/off, it turns the blue LED's off and turns on the power buttons, then vice versa o_0. It's still nice to have something there though. The real plus is the addition of the 3 buttons on the other end of the motherboard near the front panel connections. These are permanent buttons for Power/Reset/Clear CMOS. I think ALL high end motherboards should have these buttons to make life a lot easier for the enthusiast out there. They also light up very nicely (as you see in the main picture on page 1). Installation: Installation for me was as simple as slapping this rig together on my updated Large Tech Station from HighSpeedPC. Assembly went together without an issue using dual ASUS 8800GTS video cards and an Intel E6600 w/stock cooler. I didn't even really need the Q-Connector much since the Striker Extreme has the built-in buttons for power and reset. I did however stick a system speaker on it so I could hear the POST beep :)
BIOS: The BIOS for the ASUS Striker Extreme is about as feature rich as you'd imagine for such a high end enthusiast motherboard. I haven't run across anything that I wanted to change and couldn't, so that's good. I do wish the memory timings weren't quite so buried though.
